Ol Kalou Water and Sanitation Company (OLWASCO) was initially a Government of Kenya Gazzeted urban water supply scheme which was started in 1973 with only one borehole at the center of the Ol Kalou town. Since then the boreholes have increased to five from the initial one. On July 1st 2006, OLWASCO assets and operations were handed over Rift Valley Water Service Board (RVWSB) in accordance with Water Act 2002 institutional re-organization. RVWSB further licensed Ol Kalou Water and Sanitation Company Limited as a Water Service Provider (WSP) to operate and manage the scheme as their agent.
